What it is

Cream of Rice is a fine rice flour that turns into a smooth, creamy cereal in one to two minutes: stir it into boiling water, or into cold water or milk and warm it in the microwave. It is a plain carbohydrate base. You can eat it as a warm porridge, build a bowl with fruit, jam or nut butter, or stir in a scoop of protein powder.

Composition and quality

The unflavoured version has a single ingredient, white rice flour. The flavoured versions add flavouring, salt and sucralose, and some also contain ground cinnamon or skim milk powder. One 30 g serving gives at least 24 g of carbohydrates, 2 g of protein and 0.1 g of fat. Applied Nutrition makes it in an ISO 22000, BRC, GMP and Halal accredited facility, and the product is Halal certified. As declared by the manufacturer, every batch is tested for banned substances under a monitored programme.

Who it is for
